ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Industries & Commerce, Nagaland, serves as the key agency for industrial policy formulation and development in the state. Its primary responsibilities include:
Core Responsibilities
- Policy Formulation: Developing policies that drive industrial growth and establishing technically and economically viable industrial projects.
- Entrepreneurial Support: Assisting prospective entrepreneurs with project profiles, schemes, and training through Entrepreneurship Development Programs (EDP). The department also facilitates financing through institutions such as:
- Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation (NIDC)
- National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC)
- Commercial banks
- Infrastructure Development: Promoting industrial growth by developing key facilities, including:
- Industrial Growth Centre (IGC) – Located at Ganeshnagar, Dimapur.
- Export Promotion Industrial Park – Being upgraded into a Product-Specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
- Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre (NTTC) – Focused on human resource development in the industrial sector (Dimapur).
- Industrial Infrastructure Development Centre (IIDC) – Located at Kiruphema.
- Proposed Infrastructure Development Centres – Planned at Tuli and Jalukie.
The department acts as a facilitator, supporting entrepreneurs in establishing and managing successful industrial ventures.
