Industry Policy (Summary)
The Nagaland State Industrial Policy of 2000 (revised in 2004) aims to accelerate industrial development by creating a conducive environment for investment and entrepreneurship. Key aspects include:
1. Incentives and Subsidies:
Offering various incentives to attract investments and support existing industries.
2. Infrastructure Development:
Establishing industrial estates, growth centers, and export promotion parks to provide necessary facilities for industries.
3. Skill Development:
Implementing training programs to enhance the skills of the local workforce, aligning with industry requirements.
4. Focus on MSMEs:
Emphasizing the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as a vital component of the state’s industrial landscape.
5. Sustainable Practices:
Encouraging industries to adopt environmentally sustainable practices to ensure long-term ecological balance.
This policy underscores the state’s commitment to balanced regional development and the promotion of indigenous industries.
Recent Initiatives and Developments
- One District One Product (ODOP) Sampark Event: In June 2023, the department, in collaboration with Invest India and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, organized an ODOP Sampark event. This initiative
aims to identify and promote unique products from each district, aligning with the broader objectives of Atmanirbhar
Bharat and Make in India. - Buyers & Sellers Meet 2024: Held in December 2024 at Bamboo Hall, Kisama, this event provided a platform for local entrepreneurs to connect with buyers from various parts of the country, fostering business collaborations and
expanding market access for Nagaland’s products. - Memorandum of Understanding with ONDC: In August 2024, the department signed an MoU with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to facilitate digital sales for small businesses, farmers, artisans, and entrepreneurs. This
collaboration aims to enhance digital inclusion and provide broader market access through e-commerce platforms. - Startup Nagaland: The department has launched the “Startup Nagaland” initiative to position the state as a leading startup destination. This program provides an enabling ecosystem to support and nurture startup entrepreneurship,
offering incentives and resources to aspiring entrepreneurs.
