ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Industries & Commerce, Nagaland, serves as the key agency for industrial policy formulation and development in the state. It also explores and formulates technically feasible and economically viable industrial projects. The main task of the department is to be the facilitator to the prospective entrepreneurs to set up and run an industrial venture successfully. Primary responsibilities of the department include:
  • Policy Formulation: Developing policies that drive industrial growth and establishing technically and economically viable industrial projects.
  • Entrepreneurial Support: Assisting prospective entrepreneurs with project profiles, schemes, and training through Entrepreneurship Development Programs (EDP). The department also facilitates financing through institutions such as:
    • Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation (NIDC)
    • National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC)
    • Commercial banks
  • Infrastructure Development: Promoting industrial growth by developing key facilities, including:
    • Industrial Growth Centre (IGC) – Located at Ganeshnagar, Dimapur.
    • Export Promotion Industrial Park – Being upgraded into a Product-Specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
    • Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre (NTTC) – Focused on human resource development in the industrial sector (Dimapur).
    • Industrial Infrastructure Development Centre (IIDC) – Located at Kiruphema.
    • Proposed Infrastructure Development Centres – Planned at Tuli and Jalukie.

The department acts as a facilitator, supporting entrepreneurs in establishing and managing successful industrial ventures.
