What is NHHDC?
The Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. (NHHDC) is a Government of Nagaland undertaking established in 1979 to promote and develop traditional handloom and handicraft products unique to the state.
What does NHHDC do?
The Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. (NHHDC) supports Nagaland’s traditional artisans by:
- Produces handloom and handicraft goods at its Dimapur centers
- Markets products under the brand "Meraki Nagaland" through social media and sales outlets
- Supplies raw materials to weavers/artisans and buys back finished products for sale
- Organizes fairs & exhibitions to promote artisans and educate them on market trends
- Helps sustain Nagaland's craft heritage while boosting rural livelihoods

Our Services
- Traditional Crafts Promotion: Developing Nagaland's indigenous handloom & handicrafts since 1979

- NHHDC prioritises handloom and handicraft production as a key objective in promoting traditional Naga craftsmanship.
- An investment of Rs. 12.86 lakhs was made for procuring raw materials.
- Production took place across the Weaving Production Centre, Dyeing Centre, and Craft Development Centre.
- The total value of goods produced at these centres amounts to Rs. 24.96 lakhs.
- Raw materials worth Rs. 6.18 lakhs are currently stored for future production needs.
- These efforts reflect NHHDC’s commitment to sustainable practices and cultural preservation.
- The Office of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, sanctioned two State Handloom Expos and one National Handloom Expo for the financial year 2024-2025 to boost and promote the handloom sector in Nagaland.
- Out of the three expos, two were held at Urban Haat, Dimapur, Nagaland, and one at Handloom Haat, Janpath, New Delhi. The first expo was successfully organized at Urban Haat, Dimapur, from 4th to 17th December 2024, attracting significant participation from local weavers and artisans.
- The National Handloom Expo was conducted at Handloom Haat, Janpath, New Delhi, from 6th to 19th February 2025, followed by the third at Urban Haat, Dimapur, from 6th to 19th March 2025.
- These expos served as vital platforms for handloom weavers to showcase their products, connect with buyers, and promote Nagaland's rich handloom heritage to a wider audience.
- As part of its ongoing efforts to promote the handloom sector, the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, has scheduled three State Handloom Expos (SHE) for the financial year 2025-2026 in Nagaland:
- September 2025 - Urban Haat, Dimapur District
- October 2025 - Mokokchung Town, Mokokchung District
- November 2025 - Urban Haat, Dimapur District
- The specific dates for each expo will be announced through advertisements in the local newspapers. These expos aim to provide a vibrant marketplace for weavers and artisans to showcase their work and connect with buyers, thereby boosting the visibility and sales of traditional handloom products.
In addition to handloom expos, the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, also implements various handicraft development programmes through Nagaland Handicrafts & Handlooms Development Corporation Ltd. (NHHDC Ltd.). These initiatives are designed to enhance skills, promote traditional crafts, and improve artisans' livelihoods. Key programmes include:

These schemes are conducted periodically across the State, offering valuable opportunities for capacity building, market exposure, and product innovation for artisans.
