Scheme Overview
Nagaland Textiles Division, an initiative by the Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Nagaland, preserves traditional weaving, empowers artisans, and boosts the local economy through vibrant tribal craftsmanship. Aligned with the Ministry of Textiles‘ vision, it supports key sectors:
- Handlooms: Promoted through NHDP(National Handloom Development Programme) and India Handloom Brand (IHB), preserving heritage and supporting weavers.
- Handicrafts: Enhanced via CHDS( Comprehensive Handlooms Development Scheme), improving artisan clusters with infrastructure and market access.
- Fashion: Encourages traditional-modern fusion through Samarth Scheme and Bharat Tex.

Step 1: Identify the Relevant Scheme
- Visit the official website of the Ministry of Textiles.
- Go to the “Schemes” section and review scheme details (e.g., objectives, eligibility, funding pattern).
- Choose the scheme relevant to your sector: handlooms, handicrafts, skill development, or technical textiles.
Step 2: Check Eligibility Criteria
- Read the scheme guidelines carefully to ensure you qualify (individual weaver, artisan, cooperative, MSME, R&D institution, etc.).
- Collect necessary documentation such as:
- Aadhar Card
- Weaver/Artisan ID Card (for traditional workers)
- Udyam Registration (for MSMEs)
- PAN, GST registration, bank details
- Legal registration documents (for NGOs, SHGs, institutions.)
