About Startup Nagaland
Start-up Nagaland is an initiative of the Department of Industries & Commerce that aims to foster a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem in the state by supporting early-stage, innovation-driven enterprises. The initiative provides a comprehensive support system to help start-ups grow and thrive.
It offers a range of financial incentives, including seed grants, GST reimbursements, and sustenance allowances to ease the initial burden of setting up and running a business. In addition, Start-up Nagaland emphasizes capacity building through a network of incubators that provide training, mentoring, and handholding support to entrepreneurs. The initiative also extends infrastructure and policy support through recognized incubation centres and dedicated programs designed to help start-ups scale successfully.

Support for Incubators
- New Incubators: Upto Rs 25 lakhs for setup and equipment
- Existing Incubators: Rs 5 lakh in tranches for infrastructure expansion
Entrepreneurship Development centres (EDC)
To nurture entrepreneurial aspirations among students, Start-up Nagaland supports EDCs in schools and colleges:
- 16 School EDCs (via YouthNet)
- 6 College EDCs (via EduCentre)
Activities: Ideation camps, exposure visits, and skill development programs
An entity is eligible if:
- An entity aged less than 10 years, registered under StartUp Nagaland and working towards innovation, development or improvement of products or processes or services, or if it is a scalable business model with a high potential of employment generation or wealth creation.
- The entity must meet the following conditions:
The date of incorporation/registration/legalization of the entity is not prior to seven years (tees not exceed Rs. 25 crore for any preceding financial year. - Not an extension of an existing family business or formed by splitting up or reconstruction of an existing business.
Institutions in Nagaland (private or educational/technical) can apply to become recognized incubators under Start-up Nagaland and offer:
