The North East Food Event 2023, held in Guwahati, was more than just a showcase of local delicacies—it was a celebration of the region’s untapped potential in food processing and agri-business. Organized in partnership with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), AIDC, and the Indian Chamber of Commerce, the three-day event brought together farmers, food entrepreneurs, buyers, investors, and policymakers.

And with participants from across the Northeast, the event spotlighted a rich variety of local produce which included but was not limited to organic tea and bamboo-based products to exotic fruits and tribal cuisines. These offerings attracted varied interests from both national and international buyers, setting the stage for expanded market access. Key sessions focused on investment opportunities, cold chain logistics, sustainable packaging, and export potential.

Entrepreneurs had the chance to network with potential partners, while experts shared insights on scaling operations and meeting global quality standards. Importantly, the event also sparked meaningful discussions around food innovation, climate-resilient agriculture, and the need for processing infrastructure in the region. As demand for healthy, locally sourced food grows globally, the Northeast is well-positioned to become a significant contributor to India’s food economy, making events like this a timely and strategic push forward.
